special education department

CRCS offers special education services as a ministry to our students who have physical, academic, social, and emotional needs. These programs enable students to have equal access to learning so they can achieve the goals of their educational programs, as well as the opportunity to develop their gifts and abilities as they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CRCS offers an inclusive model of education, where students are educated with their same-aged peers in regular classrooms
as much as possible.

SPECIAL EDUCATION POLICY

Admission of special education students will be based on consideration of the following factors:
1. classroom composition (academic, social, and behavioural issues)
2. the recommendation of the school-based team which is composed of: the principal, the special education director, and the parent concerned.

LEARNING ASSISTANCE RATIONALE

The learning assistance program at CRCS is designed to work together with teachers by coming alongside students who need additional support with the aim of helping them find success in school.

LEARNING ASSISTANCE POLICY

In line with our mission statement of educating and training our students in a biblical worldview to become active disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to achieve our vision of assisting students to achieve their academic potential, CRCS provides a learning assistance program. This program is a school-based non-enrolling resource service provided by a learning assistance teacher.

PROCEDURES and guidelines

The goals of the program are to assist the classroom teacher in raising the academic performance of students; to assist teachers with adapting curricula and strategies; to help improve students self-concept; to enhance academic and personal growth of students; and to provide resources.
